Midterm!
Midterm day finally arrived, and somehow, we pulled it off. The morning felt a bit like controlled chaos, last-minute slide checks, tiny copy edits, making sure all our demos and screens were in the right order. We’d practiced, but not as much as we would’ve liked, so there was definitely a mix of nerves and adrenaline in the room. Still, once we started presenting, something clicked.
We walked our classmates and instructors through the story behind Jargon, why we built it, who it’s for, and how it helps tradespeople learn the language of their work. Seeing our wireframes and UI screens up on the big screen made everything feel suddenly real. Features like “My Courses,” flashcards, quizzes, and avatars weren’t just boxes on a Figma board anymore; they were part of a product people could imagine themselves using.

Even though we didn’t have much time to practice beforehand, our presentation went pretty well. The response from our classmates was super positive, they seemed to really connect with the idea behind Jargon and could see the potential of the app. Some people commented on how helpful it would be for newcomers working in Canada, others liked the mix of learning and gamification. Their questions during Q&A also helped us see which parts of the app were already clear, and which parts we might need to explain better next time.
Hearing their feedback gave us a big boost of energy and confidence. It felt like a moment of validation: our idea wasn’t just meaningful to us, it made sense to other people too. After the presentation, there was this quiet relief, like we could finally breathe again. Now we get a little time to rest and recharge, and then it’s back to building, polishing, and pushing Jargon even further for the final. Midterm might be over, but in a way, it also feels like the real beginning of what Jargon can become.
